Esther is a passionate and accomplished bowls player. She is also a Bowls New Zealand accredited lawn bowls coach. As such, she can provide expert advise to help choose the right bowl and equipment for your needs and if you need it, that extra attention to help you perform at a higher level.
Esther says:
"Lawn bowls is a great game. You don't have to be super tall like basket ball players or super fit like tri athletes. It is a low impact sport but you still need to be reasonably mentally and physically fit."
She loves this game. She was prepared to play and train hard as she wanted to improve quickly. Winning is a habit. To date, she has won a silver medal in the 2018 New Zealand Open Triple; third in the 2017 New Zealand Open Singles; Thirty one (31) club titles and Four (4) Auckland Centre championship. The first club championship was in pairs which she won as a second year bowler.
Esther is the Coach/Selector for the Auckland 1-5 Men's representative team who won four out of four inter-centre challenges in the 2015-16 season. They have also been successful in the 2016/2017, 2017-2018. In the 2018-19, she is the Coach/Selector for Auckland 1-5 Men & Women's representative team and they were overall the successful teams for the season. She also won the Auckland Centre's Coach of Year Award for 2015/16 and 2018/19.
Esther is also a bowls umpire. She got into umpiring as she was getting conflicting information from bowlers that meant well who confused her more than anything. She thought the best way was to know the Laws of Bowls for herself.
Ultimately, she believes that whatever your reason and at whatever level you play bowls, remember to enjoy and strive for excellence.
